I have a favorite shop in the Northeast part of Missouri that I love to go to called Randolph Mercantile. The owner has the best taste for decorating and I always come out of the shop loaded with things for my home. The best part is that her costs are very reasonable! My husband even likes to look around with me. This year I took some photos of some of the trees she has decorated for this season and I am sharing them with you. Trend No. 1 Farmhouse Christmas. The Christmas tree itself isn't perfectly shaped, but it is definitely charming. The ornaments are crafted from wood, handpainted, and with touches of natural branches. Tin snowflakes cut from an old barn roof and hand-knitted stockings complete this look.
Trend No. 2 Buffalo Plaid. It's everywhere this Christmas, and you can choose between and a red/black plaid or black/white plaid. Both tend to lend themselves to old red trucks carrying Christmas trees, or tiny cute teardrop campers. Again, lots of natural elements like twigs, berries, and pinecones go with this look.
Trend No. 3. White Christmas trees. Lots of varieties out there, from flocked evergreens to solid white trees with fanciful colored lights. You will see some modern versions of the aluminum tree, mostly in a skinny version, but with choices of gold, silver, or rose gold metals.
Trend No. 4. Flocked artificial trees. I wasn't sure about this trend, but this particular tree had nice and hard flocking, which means that if the tree knocks up against the stairs or walls while being set up, the flocking stays in place. No messy floors! This tree is taking two trends to the limits, here, the flocking and the cute buffalo black/white plaid.
Trend No. 5. Vintage-inspired trees. This white tree is toned down with platinum branches of eucalyptus and other branches. Vintage style ornaments with silver and gold glitter make this tree elegant in any setting. Another double trend here, the white tree with vintage ornaments and decorations. To add a little more vintage charm, you might want to add some tinsel.
Trend No. 6. The statement tree. This tree finds itself in the heart of the home, with oversized ornaments, glamour, and lots of filler. This beautiful tree follows another trend: monochromatic themes. The silver, gold, wood theme blends nicely and has an elegant farmhouse feel to it.
What other tree trends are you seeing this year? I saw lots of trees with programmable lights, and that makes my heart very, very happy. Our family is divided when it comes to lights: I love the old-fashioned color lights and my husband and daughter love white lights. Programmable lights mean we are all happy!
